Hotel Finlandia or similar B THURSDAY, Day 2: Quito Papallacta - La Casa del Suizo Depart from Quito Early this morning. Along the way you will stop at Papallacta; a small mountain village famed for its natural hot springs, After your family eat lunch here, you family will continue along a scenic stretch of road which takes you to majestic Andes highlands and down into Amazon region to admire lush green valleys and beautiful sparkling waterfalls. At a tiny port town on the North bank of the Napo River the road ends at Punta Ahuano, where canoes awaiting for you for a late afternoon 15 minute ride downstream to la Casa del Suizo. Arrive on time to get settled & enjoy swimming pool with a refreshing welcome cocktails. La Casa del Suizo Lodge [BLD] FRIDAY, Day 3: Amazon Jungle Exploration After breakfast, you family will board a dugout canoe, and navigate 25 minutes down the waters of the scenic Napo River. The destination is Pangayacu, where during an approximately 3 hour walk through primary rainforest, family will get a chance to see actual hunting traps which were traditionally used by the local natives. Your local family guides will demonstrate how they work and explain which type of animals was caught in each one. At all times kids, your grand parents if any will be on the lookout for tropical birds, and point out important aspects of the surrounding vegetation. You will then visit a Quichua Indian family: The trail leads to the home of a Quichua Indian family, whose garden contains many medicinal plants still commonly used today. Your family guide will explain how they are prepared, and afterwards serve lunch (which will be sent from the hotel) near the edge of the Napo. Later, the you family will continue on to the village of Ahuano, where your family will learn about several aspects of traditional Quichua culture. A local host will show you how to make chicha, a typical beverage which your family may taste, and demonstrate the spiritual cleaning rituals still practiced today. Finally, all may family participate in a blowgun target-shooting contest – but don’t expect to beat the natives! Your family will participate on several morning, afternoon and full day activities. Overnight: La Casa del Suizo Lodge [BLD] SATURDAY, Day 4: Amazon Jungle Exploration Start by Misicocha Adventure visit consisting of a walk through primary and secondary forest trails, along which it is possible to observe distinct species of birds and insects as well as a great variety of trees & medicinal plants. You family guides will explain how such plants are used not only in medicine, but also in construction & other important local activities. Along the guided trails, family may enjoy several opportunities for family adventure, such as hanging bridges, & vines for swinging from tree to tree. After the walk kids and parents may choose to eat lunch in the jungle, and later live the incredible experience of building and navigating a raft! On a small river island, your family guide will show your family how to tie balsa logs together, so those who wish can float down the Napo for about an hour back to La Casa del Suizo. The duration of this visit is around four hours, and from five to six hours if you choose to have lunch in the forest. For our more physically limited family adventure, who do not wish or are not able to participate in all of the activities listed above, There is family alternatives such as "The Island": A 1 hour walk along a totally flat river island, where one may observe a great variety of plants and insects. Overnight: La Casa del Suizo Lodge [BLD] SUNDAY, Day 5: Andes Mountains to Quito After breakfast you family will depart for the trip up the mountains and back to Quito. About halfway there, the bus will stop at a lookout to stretch your legs and enjoy a box lunch before continuing on to Quito arriving later today Overnight :Hotel Finlandia or similar BL MONDAY, Day 6: Fly from Quito to Baltra then North Seymour Island Transfer in the morning to airport for the two hour flight to the Galapagos from Quito. Upon arrival, meet your family naturalist guide and transfer to the Luxury family cruise. The ships crew will greet you on board, take care of your luggage, and run through safety drills. Enjoy fresh fruit drinks as the yacht makes her way to the first site visit. As the sun sets, enjoy a typical Ecuadorian meal, the nightly briefing and formal presentation of the captain and crew. During the rest of this week, your family will leisurely voyage through the stunning Galapagos Islands, among a varied landscape and diverse flora and fauna. Overnight on Luxury, M/V Galapagos Cruise [BLD] TUESDAY, Day 7: Prince Phillips Steps and Darwin Bay Beach Prince Phillips Steps , dry & wet landing. Red footed boobies & frigate birds. Palo Santo trees. Lunch then to Darwin Bay (wet landing). Sea lions, lava gulls, night herons & fiddler crabs. swim or snorkel or your family may kayak or ride the dinghy along the steep cliffs to view birds nesting in the narrow rock crevices. See Red-Billed Tropicbirds, as well as Masked and Red-Footed Boobies usually seen on the hike up Prince Philips Steps to the high plateau. The path meanders through a Palo Santo forest before emerging on the other side of the island. Snorkeling in the submerged caldera is excellent, as the high nutrient content of the water attracts abundant sea life. Later Dinner with evening lectures on board. Overnight on Luxury, M/V Galapagos Legend Cruise [BLD] WEDSDAY, Day 8: Cruise, Hispaniola, San Cristobal This morning your boat will have Dry landing on Punta Suarez . You family will get a chance to see Masked & blue footed boobies, waved albatross, hood mocking birds, tropic birds, lava lizards and marine iguanas . Blowhole. Lunch then Dry landing at San Cristobal an interpretation Center. Dinner will be served and later in evening you family will have lectures. Overnight on Luxury, M/V Galapagos Cruise [BLD] THURSDAY, Day 9: Santa Cruz Arrive at Black Turtle Cove in the north of Santa Cruz Island. Today you family will Visit the mangroves and observe sea turtles, white tipped reef sharks, and rays. Late morning departures board a bus, and drive to the Ultimate family vacation at Royal Palm Galapagos Hotel In the afternoon, we will pay a visit to the Charles Darwin Research Station where we can see giant tortoises in captivity and learn about the importance of this station for the survival of the archipelago. You Kids will learn about research and conservation initiatives including breeding programs to reintroduce specific tortoise species back onto the island of their origin.
